Traditionally, sushi rice is prepared by using specialized rice vinegar, but what’s now common in some restaurants, is using regular vinegar that may contain glutenous ingredients.

Another concern is some sushi chefs, may add soy sauce to the rice as a seasoning, this before making their rolls. What’s known for certain, is that most soy sauces contain gluten, unless labelled otherwise. So choose your sushi restaurant carefully, make sure it’s authentic.

4. Flavored Coffee


Coffee has come a long way from just brewing a cup of dark java, to the variety of taste and flavor options that are available today. There are now endless choices on how to tailor your cup. What’s for certain, is black brewed coffee is definitely gluten free, but what needs to be made aware of, are the byproducts which are now added to it.

Some instant coffees for instance, may contain gluten as a bulking agent. Then there are the flavoring syrups, whipped cream, and other additives which may contain gluten. Know that the coffee machines may also be contaminated. So unless you prepare pure coffee at home, be aware.
